Glacier Washington Trip : Watersnow Resort

It was planned but not expected, this is what I can call this trip.  It was planned because we have to use a timeshare to book it. Unexpected because, I was not expecting that my son is joining us on this vacation.

It was a 2 1/2 hour flight from California to Washington, and another 2 1/2 hour drive from the airport to the villa.  It was a long way but worth it, because the view was all new to us and sharing it with my son was a total fun.  Showing him the beauty of Washington was fulfilling.

The Villa

We are booked at the Snow Water Resort in Glacier, and driving was a little challenging. The road was really something that you should be familiar to in order to navigate around and find our destination, quite challenging though.  Knowing Seattle for it’s rainy season whole year round, yes it was indeed raining while we were driving. But we got to our destination safe and sound.  The concierge was a bit old style, because it was just a small building just outside the villa, and parking was only for 4 vehicles, so when you get there and people are swarming you need the best of luck to find a parking spot.  Checking in was easy and the lady behind the counter was very helpful despite the attitude, but who needs the attitude if you have been greatly helped right?

When we got into our villa, for some reason why we are always assigned on the second floor, which is not really helpful for me since I had to assist my father to take the stairs. It was almost like a town home, although the building was a bit of an old structure, it was really breathtaking because of the view that we have. All i can say about the villa is that it is for the whole family.  The rooms does not have the privacy someone couple needs except for the first room that was located right next to the door. It was quaint and simple.

They have amenities also to keep us busy, like the indoor and outdoor pools, the work out area and the playroom to keep us busy and active.

The Scenery

There was a creek that can be seen across the villa and it was really awesome. Those kind of creeks that can be seen on TV and movies, trees are towering and hills are around us.  It was very homey if you will think about it and they have this old building where you can go and hold meetings or just plain gathering.  It was raining so we did not have the chance to loiter around and decided to stay at the villa.

Experience

Our first night was kind of a boring one, due to the predictable weather of Seattle.  It was raining and the temperature was going down.  you can actually predict that it was going to snow the next day. Since we just got in, we need to load ourselves up for the week, need to find a supermarket or a store to buy our stock for the week. It was a quaint little town and nothing much to go to except that small store where they offer few things to tie up for a day or two. On our way back to the villa it started snowing and it was really a challenge, because the snow was really pouring down and almost zero visibility, but we manage to get back to the villa safely.

The next day was the best one, because how would you feel like waking up in the morning and seeing your surrounding all covered in snow? That is what the villa gave us, a shimmering snow that covered the greenery, who are we to complain right? Coming from southern California, waking up on a snowy day was a novelty. of course, we can not do anything anymore because it was snowing.

We spent most of the vacation just inside the villa cooking, watching movies, eating, walking around, building a snowman and playing on the snow. We also went for a swimming in their indoor pool.  It was just so amazing that we are actually swimming while it was snowy outside.  The indoor pool was heated and there were glass windows where you can see what is going on outside. How perfect was that?

During our last night at the villa, we decided to just go to a restaurant for a change and head to Elysian Brewing, which is actually a bar and restaurant in one.  The place was really neat and they had things to offer.  From what I saw this bar and restaurant holds band for music and the second floor was a game area.  The food was ok, it was filling and very american in taste.

The service was no nonsense they will just get your order, serve it, eat, pay and go. nothing much to share, but if you are looking for a place to just chill and enjoy the music this is the place to go in Glacier.

One thing to consider – they are very strict to minors so if you are below 21 you may not be allowed to their bar area, which is a separate section in the restaurant.

Wrapping up… on our way back to California, we drove by Seattle to see the Space Needle but was not able to get it because it was really crowded and my elderly parents are getting tired and just want to go straight to the airport. It was a very relaxing trip though.
