Dear Stranger on the Street

At first I was not sure if this was just part of a campaign, but I can tell whoever wrote this has the intention of sharing his/her new found life. Knowing that this community is composed of people who have had the same experiences and are battling the same burden inside them, will definitely help in changing people with tendency to commit suicide to think not just twice but a hundred times.

November 2, 2015, I decided not to drive my car and walk to a convenient store on Orange ave and Broadway, and on my way home while waiting for the green light to cross the street, I noticed this posted on an electrical post.

I was intrigued by the way it tries to catch people’s attention and took time to read it through.wpid-collage-2015-11-03-03_55_38-1.jpg.jpeg

The post:

01 NOV.2015

Dear Stranger on the Street,

I almost took my life today.

But instead I did the bravest thing I could and decide to live.

‘cos this isn’t living, what I’ve been doing.

Today is the first day of my life. REAL life.

And I’ve decided I won’t waste it anymore.

Instead, I’m dedicating myself to spreading true, unbridled HAPPINESS.

So I’m starting with you, Long Beach!  I’ve only felt warmth since I moved here, so I have faith in this town’s collective abilities.  We are all one, after all!

You are all beautiful souls and every single on of you deserves LIFE and LOVE!!!

I love you all. Unconditionally.  And I can’t wait to spend my new life meeting you, laughing with you, connecting with you, &(hopefully) inspiring you.

And those of you who find yourself in a constant battle with your mind, there is hope for you. Life is too beautiful to not be able to enjoy it, so please get yourself help.  It’s not scary once you take the plunge.  You owe it to yourself ‘cos come on, how long have your been this way?  You are NOT a BURDEN. Let me repeat YOU.ARE.NOT.A.BURDEN.

You HAVE a burden, which by definition is too heavy to carry on your own.  So go forth. Live.

There are always far BETTER things ahead than ANYTHING WE LEAVE BEHIND.

For me it was on of the most moving campaign I have ever seen in my life, it is not being sensationalized by the media nor spent so much money just to convey the message to people suffering from the same hardship.  How many people we know, friends, colleague, loved ones who we think are happy but not knowing that deep inside them are suffering from the same dilemma?

There is hope… do not be scared… you are not alone, there are people who can help you!

Thanks to the one who wrote this letter because this will give hope and assurance to people who are in the same situation that life is still worth living.
